On May 19 at approximately 9:30 am, The Woodlands Fire Department and the Shenandoah Police Department were dispatched to 8821 Metropark Square, suite 1500, in reference to an electrical fire.
When Shenandoah Police patrol officers arrived they discovered an electrician had been injured while running power to a new suite in the building. The electrical box, at the suite under renovation, was smoking and several electrical explosions occurred. Shenandoah Police officers evacuated the building, which included the businesses Burger IM, Martinis and Manicures, and The Black Bear Café, as a precaution. Fire personnel from both The Woodlands Fire Department and Needham Road Fire Department responded and utilized dry chemical fire extinguishers to extinguish a small fire at the location.
Investigators from the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene to investigate the fire. The injured electrician was transported to the hospital, via ambulance. All power to the building was cut off until damage to the electrical system can be repaired.
