On June 20 at approximately 5:18 am, the Shenandoah Police Department received a suspicious person call at The Holiday Inn Express, located at 19333 David Memorial.
The caller advised multiple car alarms were going off and that they observed a male, wearing a grey hoodie, running from one of the vehicles towards David Memorial. The responding officer arrived on the scene and noticed busted windows on multiple vehicles.
Shortly after the call was aired, an alert Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputy was checking The Drury Inn parking lot and observed a dark-colored Toyota Camry cruising the parking lot with no lights on. The deputy initiated a stop on the vehicle as it was attempting to exit the parking lot onto Medical Plaza at a high rate of speed. The vehicle accelerated southbound on the service road before stopping in the parking lot of Lake Front Shell. Further investigation revealed the driver matched the description of the suspicious person from the Holiday Inn Express. Subsequent investigation led to the recovery of property stolen during the Holiday Inn burglaries.
The male suspect was transported back to the Holiday Inn Express where contact was made with five victims. Officers were able to recover two stolen firearms and return them to the victims. Other stolen items were recovered and returned to the rightful owners. The suspect was identified as Chukwugoziri “Chuck” Mgbaraho, a 21-year-old male out of Houston. Mgbaraho was charged with two counts of Burglary of Vehicle, Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information, and two counts of Theft of a Firearm.
The Shenandoah Police Department would like to remind everyone that suspects are targeting vehicles in an effort to steal firearms. Please remember to hide your valuables, lock your cars and take your keys.
